World Photography Day is August 19th

The first World Photography Day was held on August 19th, 2010.
About 210 photographers shared their photographs in a global online gallery. People from all over the world visited the gallery to admire their work.

This event is celebrated every year on August 19th.

The word photography means drawing or writing with light. It is very fitting, considering that photography tells a story without words.

Photography comes naturally to me and I love to tell a story with my images. Wildlife and pets are my favorite subjects.

If you are interested in learning about the history of photography, you may enjoy reading National Photography Month. I wrote that post in May of 2022.

If you like photography, submit your photo to World Photography Day

How can you celebrate World Photography Day on August 19th?

  • Talk to photographers. Ask them about their profession.

  • Take a photo with your camera or cell phone, and share it on social media with #WorldPhotographyDay.

  • Learn about photography.

  • Go online or to your local bookstore and learn about the story of famous photographs.

  • Encourage and offer support to friends and family who love photography.

You don’t have to be a professional photographer to celebrate this day. If you are a newbie, an enthusiast, or love to take photos, get your camera or phone and snap!

These are some of my photographs. I hope you like them. All photos are mine © G.A. Alexander. Please do not use, alter, or distribute my photos without my authorization. Thank you. Please subscribe to get my emails. Your support is appreciated!
