Exploring Historical Fencing: Research, Ideas, Training, and Stories
About SwordFight Club & HemaLore
"Damn you, old masters — I ask one question, and you give me a hundred answers."
SwordFight Club was founded by Gábor Antali in 2023 and is based in Bromley, South London.
The club focuses on Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), with longsword as its primary discipline. Training is also available in rapier, sabre, and poleaxe through private lessons, workshops, and special events. The aim is simple: to help students develop skill, understanding, and confidence through the study of historical fencing.
HemaLore
HemaLore is an ongoing research and publication project dedicated to the study of historical fencing and martial culture.
Through articles, translations, source studies, and historical investigations, HemaLore explores the ideas, techniques, people, and traditions behind Historical European Martial Arts. Drawing on sources and modern interpretation, it seeks to make historical fencing accessible, engaging, and meaningful for both practitioners and curious readers.
From forgotten masters and duelling culture to practical lessons from historical treatises, HemaLore is a place where research, training, and storytelling meet.
