Back again with another Stardew Valley diorama build, this time with the 1.6 update of the Raccoon Family! I used my newly found sculpting skills to build this one and I'm quite chuffed with the results. One of my favorite parts is that I designed this build to move the tails to mimic the wiggle they have in the game!
These ten little raccoons and house is made with cosclay polymer clay. Also made out of balsa wood and armature materials to keep the clay attached appropriately. The balsa wood is stained with a homemade steel wool rust concoction and sealed which I hope it to age naturally with the diorama.
I loved the idea of the raccoon family having their own mailbox made out of wood and a red leaf. I'd love to be able to send them mail, perhaps completing quests for them, but also just to be neighborly.
The interior of the tree stump house is painted in a vibrant yellow, and I also included yellow colored fairy lights which give the nice yellow color coming out of the windows.
In the back of the tree stump house is some shelf mushrooms, modeled after chicken-of-the-woods, and serves as a nice seat for the raccoon babies to stand on.
The last bit of this build that took me the longest to perfect is the moving tails, I constructed a button that moves both of the adult raccoon tails back and forth to wiggle. I decided to spruce up the button with my Stardew Valley junimo pin.
