Howdy, Swings!

Today's rate cut by the Bank of Canada and the release of the US Federal Reserve's Beige Book looked favorable for markets.

However, some disappointing earnings announcements and a worrisome rise in yields weighed on the market, leading to a lower close.

As we expected, financials fell slightly, but most of our other predictions did not materialize.

Today's market was more like the opposite scenario.

Surprisingly, there was no support at all on the SPX5800 in the morning when the market was falling.

Will the market bounce back from today's decline tomorrow, or is this the start of a downtrend?

Let's take a look at Fullhapce’s Daily swing market forecast and explore the possibilities.

Let's review Daily Market Index Movements.

The market saw a slight dip, with the Nasdaq topping the decline.

SPX: 5797.42, down -0.92%.

Dow Jones: 42514.95, down -0.96%.

Nasdaq: 18276.65, down -1.63%.

Russell 2000: 2238.2, up 0.52%.

Let's look into Daily sector performance.

Banks, paper/packaging, telecom, semiconductors, retail, medical technology, and utilities performed well.

Technology, solar, travel, energy, asset managers, and transportation underperformed.

Let's take a look at some of the reasons why.

The stock market fell due to corporate earnings as well as the continued rise in lending rates.

Other factors include political uncertainty and potential economic risks.

Here are the Things to consider.

The Bank of Canada cut interest rates by 50 basis points.

Most companies reported good earnings, and some made reassuring comments about the market.

Starbucks and Hilton shares were resilient despite bad earnings news.

Here we present the Daily Market Forecast for swings.

The weekly market potential is leaning positive, but the uncertainty and volatility is extremely high.

On the other hand, the daily market potential is less clear due to increased unpredictability and uncertainty.

Therefore, we expect the market to be quite volatile tomorrow morning.

Looking back at today's market, after a sluggish start, the SPX showed no signs of recovery and continued to fall to 5760, but rebounded to close at 5800 after 2:30pm.

Investors seem to have been stunned by the unacceptable drop and have lost faith in the market and have turned somewhat pessimistic.

Our sector forecast is that bonds could go higher soon, while financials could continue their decline.

Our calculated indicators are showing more bearish signals, but these are mainly due to today's drop.

However, in many cases, this one isolated piece of data is often corrected the next day, reversing the trend change.

Therefore, our stance is neutral, and we expect the SPX to trade between 5770 and 5850, with the potential for volatility.

Then, if the Michigan consumer sentiment release on Friday is good, it could move a bit higher.

Let's explore some additional insights.

The overall economy is looking good, according to reports.

However, valuations are high, so there is limited room for stocks to move much higher.

In particular, rising lending rates due to economic risks are causing concern.

Let's look at the counterarguments.

The opposing view is that the market will fall below 5750 to test support due to continued anxiety about rising yields.

The additional rationale for this scenario is as follows.

Some companies reported poor earnings even though they were expected to do well.

Home sales were lower than expected and geopolitical risks remain.

Given the current anxiety in the market, we believe the opposite scenario is more likely.

For those who agree with the contrarian argument, if the market falls below 5750, they may see this as an opportunity to buy at a lower price.

The Conclusion is as follows.

We believe that the weekly market is bullish, while the daily market is in a state of uncertainty due to unexplained anxiety.

With bond rate hikes seemingly driven by the bets of a few big Wall Street investors, we don't think we know which way the market will go yet.

However, traders who agree with our bullish forecast may be wise to watch the markets through the end of the week before deciding whether or not to return to their bullish bets.

Traders may also be wise to consider both the main forecast scenario and the counterfactual scenario to effectively manage their risk.

Thank you for watching.
