My typical night

My typical night

Aug 18, 2023

Sometimes I feel like I'm a movie character. Here is the night. I sit in the corridor and read interesting book. I am sitting in the corridor because the authorities have declared an air alert. Unfortunately, there are no bomb shelters near me, so I sit in the corridor, because it is the safest place in the apartment. And then I hear a sound. I know, it is already flying a military russian drone. And I know that the Russians will again aim at some civilian object. Maybe this will be my home. I continue to sit and listen to the sounds. I chat with my friends. And now I understand what I want to eat. However, I cannot go to the kitchen. This is the most dangerous place in the apartment! So how should I eat? I listen very carefully to sounds. I read the news. Even more attentive to sounds. My friend from another city, not far from mine, reported that she heard explosions. Maybe it hit some house. However, my friend and I hope that this is the work of the Air Defense Forces. And that's why I listen even more carefully to the sounds. I don't hear anything. The street is quiet. I run to the fridge in the kitchen, open it, grab some food, close the fridge and run back down the hall. Perfectly! Now I can eat! I don't like to eat cold pizza, but this is much better than nothing. At this point, I'm glad I have a few slices of pizza left over from dinner. Today I decided to pamper myself. And it turned out to be not bad, because she was still able to eat at night during the air raid. I once dreamed as a child that I would eat pizza at night while watching a movie. My parents didn't allow me to do that. However, I did not mean that at night I want to run a few meters for pizza while military drones are flying somewhere nearby that want to kill me or other people. And these small scenes from life remind me so much of what I saw in the movies that now I think that I am the character. And I hope that I am the main character who survives under any circumstances.

This is my short story of my typical night in Ukraine. Thank you for reading.
