My list of photo contests

My list of photo contests

Feb 04, 2024

Lately, I've been frequently asked if I have a list of contests I participate in. So, I want to share with you a list of what I consider to be the best photographic contests (this list doesn't claim to be the ultimate standard, it's based solely on my subjective opinion).

I'll start with the photo contests from Farmani Group, including:

International Photography Awards

Budapest International Foto Awards

Tokyo International Foto Awards

Le Prix de la Photographie de Paris

The Neutral Density Photography Awards is very similar in spirit to the previous ones but is not part of Farmani Group. Its organizer is ND Magazine.

Contests from reFocus Awards - three contests are held throughout the year: color photography, black and white photography, and annual. An interesting feature of all three contests is an additional award based on the results of audience voting.

Also, starting from January, reFocus Awards plans to launch two separate contests:

Exposure One Awards

1839 Awards

The next group includes contests from the International Awards Associate:

Muse Photography Awards

European Photography Awards

New York Photography Awards

London Photography Awards

But personally, I have chosen only Muse Awards from them.

The next three contests allow both color and black-and-white entries: Annual Photography Awards, Fine Art Photography Awards (theme - Fine Art), and Minimalist Photography Awards (theme - minimalism).

On Chromatic Photography Awards, you can only submit color photographs.

At the same time, as a counterbalance, there are contests specifically for black and white photography. In my list, these are Monochrome Photography Awards and MonoVisions Photography Awards

Additionally, I wanted to mention two websites, WPE Awards and OneEyeland, which conduct several contests throughout the year. Their feature is the rankings of photographers based on the results of all annual contests.

It's worth mentioning that all the contests on the list are paid, but some of them offer opportunities to save. For example, reFocus Awards has a cashback system, and WPE Awards occasionally give free uploads. Moreover, in all contests, there is a "the earlier you upload, the less you pay" system.

I hope this information is helpful for you, and I'm open to questions and feedback.

What about your list of contests?
