Piovera Castle, also known as Castello di Piovera, is a medieval fortress that dates back to the 11th century. It played a strategic role in the past because of its position . Over the centuries, the castle underwent renovations and was owned by various noble families.
Count Niccolò Calvi di Bergolo, his wife Annamaria, and their son Alessandro have been managing the Castle since 1967 when the Count purchased it from the Doria-Odescalchi cousins, the last heirs of the Balbi family. The commitment of the Count and his family is to promote the ancient and noble significance of Piovera Castle, which is a heritage of our culture.
Today, Piovera Castle is a fully furnished museum and can be visited from the cellars to the tower, offering a surprising contrast between the ancient and the modern.
