Did you know that the Mille Miglia is also known as "The Most Beautiful Car Race in the World"?
1️⃣ The Mille Miglia was an speed race held in Italy from 1927 to 1957. The 1,000-mile (Mille Miglia) route stretched from Brescia to Rome and back, passing scenic landscapes, winding roads, and charming towns.
2️⃣ The first Mille Miglia was organized by the Brescia Automobile Club as a way to promote Italian automobile manufacturers and showcase their technical prowess.
3️⃣ Italian Supremacy: Italian car manufacturers dominated the Mille Miglia throughout its history. Legendary brands like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, and Maserati showcased their engineering excellence and competed fiercely for victory.
4️⃣ Record-Breaking Speeds: The Mille Miglia witnessed remarkable speeds, pushing the limits of automotive technology. In 1955, Stirling Moss and his co-driver Denis Jenkinson set a record, completing the race in an astonish time of 10 hours, 7 minutes, and 48 seconds, averaging around 97.96 mph (157.65 km/h).
5. Cancellation and Revival: Unfortunately same astonishing speed led to deadly crashes... So the original Mille Miglia race was discontinued in 1957. However, in 1977, it was reborn as a regularity race, focusing on historic vehicles-today in Mille Miglia can participate cars produced from 1927 - 1957 and more over -only the brands that took place in the original storic Mille Miglia years.
2023 edition marks several new additions, as first, the race from 3 day has extended to 5 days... And for the first time the route covers almost 2000 km.
