It has been about a year since I released my second official single, "Blackout." This track is deeply personal to me. It was born out of the complex emotions I feel for my home country, specifically the bravery of those protesting in the streets and the literal darkness of the continuous power outages across the country. It is a song dedicated to anyone facing the heavy hand of those in power, no matter where they are in the world.
This track is a fusion of minor pentatonic bass grooves and haunting electronic sounds. I focused on creating a dialogue between the bass and guitar solos. I specifically composed two different bass riffs to lock in with the guitar solos, creating a nice blend between the instruments. To capture that "mysterious" feeling of waiting in the dark, I included a bit of electronic sounds to ground the atmosphere.
It was a short production due to the limitations in PC hardware, but I am happy with the results. I hope you like it :-)
