Bashar’s Nine Levels of Consciousness: Rethinking How Beliefs Shape Your Reality

imageWhy Trying to ‘Dig Deep’ Might Be Keeping You Stuck: A Different View of Consciousness

Have you ever felt trapped in a strange contradiction?

You genuinely want to change. You put in the effort. You read the books. You try the techniques. Yet somehow, you still feel as though you are standing in the same place, exhausted from running in circles.

Perhaps you have already explored countless self development teachings. You have studied the subconscious mind, practiced positive thinking, and repeated affirmations about success, love, and confidence.

And yet, late at night, when everything becomes quiet, the familiar voices return.

Anxiety. Fear. Doubt.

That subtle but persistent whisper: “I am not enough.”

You may have tried to dig deeper. To revisit childhood memories. To uncover hidden wounds. To search for the “core beliefs” that supposedly sit buried in the depths of your psyche.

But what often happens?

The deeper you dig, the heavier everything feels.

The emotions intensify. The pain becomes more vivid. Instead of relief, you encounter an even stronger sense of struggle.

But what if the problem is not your effort?

What if the direction itself is mistaken?

What if beliefs are not located in the deepest layers of your mind, but in the highest?

You Are Not a Body Having Consciousness

One of the most fundamental shifts begins with a simple yet radical idea:

You are not a physical body living on Earth.

You are an infinite consciousness having a physical experience.

To understand how your reality is constructed, it helps to view consciousness as a layered structure. A model often described as the Nine Levels of Consciousness offers a surprisingly clear map.

Rather than starting from the bottom, we begin from the highest level.

Level 1: The Over Soul

At the highest frequency lies the Over Soul.

This level is not confined to a single physical lifetime. It is a multidimensional aspect of consciousness that can express itself through many different incarnations.

Imagine a vast source of light.

From this source, countless rays extend into different times, different realities, different versions of existence. Each ray represents an individual soul experience.

From this perspective, your present identity is only one expression among many.

Level 2: The Individual Soul

When consciousness chooses a specific physical journey, an Individual Soul emerges.

At this level, the broader themes of a lifetime are selected. The general direction. The types of experiences. The lessons and explorations that may unfold.

Life is no longer seen as random, but as a chosen adventure in awareness.

Level 3: The Higher Mind

The Higher Mind is one of the most discussed, yet most misunderstood aspects of consciousness.

It is not located in the brain. It exists beyond physical structure.

A useful analogy is this:

Your physical self is like a traveler walking through a dense forest. You see only what is directly in front of you.

Your Higher Mind is like an observer standing on a mountain above the forest. From that vantage point, the entire landscape is visible. Every path, every turn, every dead end.

Communication from the Higher Mind does not arrive as words.

It appears as:

  • Excitement

  • Curiosity

  • Intuition

  • A sense of resonance

Those moments of inexplicable joy often function as guidance signals.

A subtle inner nudge: “Move in this direction.”

Level 4: The Template Level of Reality

Before reality becomes physical, it exists as a template.

If physical life is a building, the template level is the blueprint.

Here, possibilities exist as energetic patterns rather than material forms. Your imagination becomes the bridge to this level.

Visualization is not mere fantasy. It is the process of selecting among potential blueprints.

Energy flows from higher consciousness through imagination and gradually solidifies into physical experience.

Seen this way, changing reality is less about forcing circumstances and more about revising the template.

The Critical Misunderstanding: Beliefs Are Not at the Bottom

Traditional psychology often suggests a familiar hierarchy:

Thoughts at the surface
Emotions beneath
Beliefs at the deepest core

From this viewpoint, change requires deep excavation.

But the Nine Levels model proposes something strikingly different.

Level 5: Beliefs

Beliefs are not the lowest layer.

They are among the highest within the physical mind.

Beliefs function as definitions of reality. They are interpretive filters through which experience is perceived.

What you believe shapes what becomes visible to you.

Level 6: Emotions

Emotions arise from beliefs.

Belief is the cause. Emotion is the response.

A belief such as “I am not worthy” naturally generates feelings of anxiety, sadness, or insecurity when life events occur.

Level 7: Thoughts

Thoughts are often the final expression.

They frequently serve to rationalize emotional states.

Energy flows downward:

Beliefs → Emotions → Thoughts

Attempting to change life solely through positive thinking resembles painting leaves while ignoring the roots.

Levels 8 and 9: The Gravity Zone of Consciousness

As frequency lowers further, consciousness enters more automatic domains.

Level 8: The Individual Unconscious

This level contains habits, behavioral patterns, and automatic responses.

Level 9: The Collective Unconscious

This includes shared human agreements: time, gravity, biological processes, and the basic rules of physical reality.

The Paradox of Deep Digging

Here lies a crucial insight.

When people attempt to “dig deep” for beliefs, they often descend into lower frequency states.

But beliefs do not reside there.

At those levels, one encounters habits and collective patterns, not the original definitions.

Searching for beliefs in low frequency states can intensify feelings of heaviness and helplessness.

Instead of transformation, one experiences reinforcement of existing patterns.

Beliefs Are Found in Higher States

If beliefs exist at a higher level, then accessing them requires elevation rather than descent.

Clarity often emerges not in struggle, but in lighter states of awareness.

A Different Approach to Change

This model suggests a reversed process.

1. Interrupt the Thought Loop

When negative thoughts or emotions arise, resist the urge to fight them.

Observe.

“I am experiencing this thought, but I am not this thought.”

2. Raise Your State

Shift attention toward anything that evokes genuine ease or appreciation.

Even small moments matter.

A pleasant memory. A simple sensory pleasure. A brief sense of gratitude.

3. Trace Back the Definition

From a calmer state, ask:

“What belief must I be holding to generate that emotional response?”

In higher clarity, the underlying definition often becomes obvious.

4. Redefine at the Template Level

Without judgment, consciously choose a new definition.

Imagination becomes the space where the revised reality is first experienced.

From Excavator to Observer

Simply visualizing consciousness as layered can itself produce change.

Perspective shifts.

One moves from identifying with struggle to observing patterns.

Difficulties become understood as expressions within lower levels rather than reflections of ultimate identity.

The Direction of Light

Perhaps the most poetic summary is this:

Answers are found in clarity.

Clarity is found in higher states.

Higher states emerge not through force, but through alignment with what feels expansive, curious, and alive.

A Closing Reflection

We live in a time where inner exploration has become widespread, yet many still approach change through effortful descent.

But if beliefs live closer to awareness than to darkness, then transformation may depend less on digging and more on rising.

Less on struggle, more on resonance.

Less on fixing, more on redefining.

When we stop searching for diamonds in the mud, we may finally notice the light that has always been above us.

And perhaps, within us.
