What is Tarot?
The word Tarot comes from the Italian word tarocchi which means foolishness. Anyone that knows the story that is laid out in Tarot will quickly recoginze the correlation of the word meaning and the story the cards tell from beginning to end flowing through the naive "Fool's Journey" onto the experienced "Hero's Journey".
It has been argued over for centuries who started this phenomenon, but like the words origin, Italy holds the historical evidence for being the birthing founder of the original playing deck that morphed into what is now a mystical tool of divination. Tarot became a credible source of telling fortunes around the late 17th or 18th century.
The traditional deck includes 4 suits: Swords, Wands (batons), Cups & Pentacles (coins)
The decks have evolved over the years and today the most widely known and used decks are comprised of 78 cards, which are split into two categories, Major Arcana and Minor Arcana. This is traditionally known as the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck (or modern traditional tarot deck).
There are many ways to read Tarot and as you become more familiar with your deck or have yourself read more (for those just coming to know tarot) you will understand that trusting your own intuition is a must. Your thoughts are powerful and when you enter into a reading you should always set forth with a clear mind and focus on the question/area you are most seeking your guideance and answers.

Major Arcana: Major Life Lessons 22 Cards
The major's cover those major lessons that each and every soul on this earth will experience at some point in some way during their time in their life.
Every person has a Tarot birth card story that leads to a deeper understanding of your astrological sign allowing you to dive deeper into understanding all that is you. The card that is linked to your astrological sign helps you to uncover the deeper purpose of your soul in this lifetime's incarnation. Reading the story of your birth card is something I highly encourage you to do throughout your life, many times. The tale talks about how a soul goes from having no life experience and continues on their way learning very valuable lessons throughout the journey. With time, the main character eventually transforms from the naive fool to the experienced hero of their own story.
When you are studying, reading or being read it is important to imagine yourself as the main character. Each soul's life is truly a movie, and you are the main character of yours and it is time you show up as such.
If you ever have several Major Arcana's in a reading know that your guides want you to tune in with all your will. Minor Arcana: Specific Areas or Problems
The Minor Arcana are the second part of a tarot deck. These are just as important as the major's but these are related more to specific problems and deal with particular areas of life.
When you have many Minor Arcana cards your guides are being very specific with you about what they are trying to give.
4 suits make up the Minors: Suit of Swords, Suit of Wands, Pentacles, and the Suit of Cups.
Each suit contains 14 cards that include ten cards which are numbered and four high cards (court cards) the King, Queen, Knight and Jack(or Page).
When you think of Minor Arcana think of the small nuggets of wisdom for everyday life. Kind of like those pearls of wisdom you may have received as a child from Grandparent figures in your life. Connected Elements-Gemini, Libra or Aquarius (air flow)
Anxiety, stress alternatively relaxation, intellect and all other related subjects..it's all about your state of mind and the shape it is in.
Wands: Firey Passion
Connected Elements- Aries, Leo or Sagittarius (fire that drives the passions of life)
Ego check time...lack of direction/purpose, egotistical behaviour, impulsiveness alternatively could be finding your personal power, self-assurance, independence.
Pentacles: The Conscious and Material World
Connected Elements- Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn (Get grounded and back to earth physcial)
How's your work-ethic/career, examines materialism can bring up issues of work-life balance, lack of spirtuality, or financial instability alternatively could be your recognition, adundance, wealth.
Cups: Emotions, Connection Love
Connected Elements- Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces (Water no wonder it holds emotions and boy can they be matters that flow)
When cups are near issues of relationships and deeper soul matters are at hand. Are you leading too much with your heart and not enough if at all with your mind? Balance is being asked of you. Alternatively cups can indicate a new igniting in love, projects and coming to your life in general.
Should you find yourself with more of one suit over another in a reading, your angels are telling you the specific area of life that is being affected. The more you come to know yourself the quicker your intution will unlock allowing you recoginze what specific event the card is pointing out.
Tarot can overwhelm even the most experienced, which is why it is important to always be growing ourselves for our highest good and learning all that we can along the way so that when we use tools to check in, we can hear with clarity and sureness on what needs work, avoided or leap of faith taken. When you approach anything with doubts and fear you limit what you hear, see and gain.
