When performing the musical activity Statue in the Park, or Dancing Freeze, it is nice to be able to present statue cards for the students to see. Statue cards are cards with poses on them and when you pause the music, the students pose like the statue on the card.
There are many statue cards that you can find at various resources such as Teachers Pay Teachers. You can also make some yourself. In years past, I have created statue cards using stick figures. However, for the past few years, I have wanted to have cards that would let my students see someone who looked like them on the screen. Or to show my students that dancers can be anyone from anywhere in the world.
Therefore, I decided to create my own.
I launched Canva for education (https://www.canva.com/education/).
I chose presentation.
I clicked on the Photos app within Canva.
I search various ideas, from "dancers" to "dancers' poses" to "children dancing."
From there, I gathered my gallery and used the presentation mode to display them in class.
