Current Read: Steal Like an Artist

Oct 15, 2026

Holy crap, time is flying by, and I haven't updated. The days seem to pass in an absolute blur. 2027 will be here before I know it.

I wanted to take a moment to share my current craft read. If you know me, you know I read like 8-9 books at a time. Many of them are non-fiction or have nothing to do with the craft of writing. But this week I'm finishing one I saw recommended on Pinterest for authors.

My latest read is Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon.

As a writer and creative person, I'm always interested in exploring different perspectives on creativity, inspiration, and the artistic process. One thing I love about this book's premise is the idea that creativity doesn't happen in a vacuum. We're all influenced by the stories we read, the art we admire, the people we encounter, and the experiences we collect along the way. The magic is in taking those influences and turning them into something uniquely ours.

Lately, I've also been reexamining my relationship with creativity and productivity. I've spent so much of my life feeling that I always need to be doing something, producing something, or working toward the next accomplishment. But creativity isn't just about output. It's also about curiosity, experimentation, play, and simply enjoying the process.

I hope this little book offers fresh inspiration as I continue working on my various writing projects—and maybe a few reminders not to take the creative process quite so seriously. ❤️

Have you read Steal Like an Artist? I'd love to hear your thoughts! And if you're a fellow writer, artist, or creator, what books have inspired your creative journey?

Happy creating! ✨
