Miss Elizabeth has been my very good friend since October 2025, when she moved into my neighborhood. The lady next door had fed me and given me my rabies shots for years, but soon, I was spending more time at Miss Elizabeth's house. She gives really good rubbins and is always really excited to see me for some reason.
Miss Elizabeth had another cat, Bird, who was the Lady of the House, so I didn't impose myself too much -- I let Bird tell me when I could sit on the deck with her and the rest of the family. Bird crossed the Rainbow Bridge in August 2026, but before she went, she told me that Miss Elizabeth would take really good care of me if I needed it and would probably let me come inside the house any time I wanted to! Bird also said there was something called "blankets" and this other thing called "climate control" inside the house that I might enjoy.
Right after Bird and I had that conversation, I got a really itchy eye infection, and before I knew it, Miss Elizabeth scooped me up and took me to the doctor! Bird was right -- Miss Elizabeth really likes cats. Like REALLY. She's started feeding me every day, and I'm spending a lot of time inside with her, napping on her bed or making biscuits near wherever she is. I have to say, it's a bit more comfortable than the ground, and I smell better, too!
Miss Elizabeth keeps saying this word I've never heard of -- "retirement" -- when she smiles and talks at me, or when she invites me inside, or when she refreshes my inside water. I think she wants me to find this "retirement" in her house? I don't know what it looks like, but after 11 years of living outside, I'm pretty good at sniffing things out. So I'm considering helping her out...
