An Update From Us...

Sep 09, 2025

Hey Everyone :)
Sorry it's been a hot moment since I have been on my socials etc as it's been a bit all over the place. So I figured this would be the best way to give everyone an update and share whats been happening along with some pics. You know that feeling where things start falling into place and then everything starts falling apart again? then you think its improving and then nope something happens again. Yep, that has been our year since the last update earlier this year lol :)

I started working at 2 different stores since March/April and it was going really well as at least I was getting full-time hours for work. I have also been back to actually loving my job again! I am part-time contracted at one of the stores I was going to. I haven't really had many shifts in the past 8wks with the other one... But getting what I can take at my main store again, and I have been doing Telco training the past few weeks so its a new skill and a new thing I can do at work which will help my income :) Helps I have a good sales manager who is helping me get the confidence with that too. I feel like I am doing a lot better now I changed stores as I have my confidence back and am quite happy to work in small appliances now. I also feel like I actually fit in at this store, to the point some of us went out to celebrate my birthday in july! I haven't done that in years.

I also ended up with my first trip to an Australian Hospital in an ambulance due to a Kidney stone of all things in june. Not an experience I want again but the hospital experience was better than I expected. Due to the kidney stone and all I went through with it, during our follow-up ultrasounds we discovered I have a hernia that will have to be fixed. It's now just a waiting game to have the surgery. During all this I have also had my fantastic Dr put me on insulin which is helping with my PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) as I have insulin resistance from it. Surprisingly it has actually been helping and I'm surprised at the difference it makes for my body functioning like it actually should. It's not the cheapest medication so its stretching the budget as I am not funded for it since I don't have an actual Diabetes diagnosis, although in helping my insulin resistance it should mean that i wont have to have that diagnosis **knock on wood** I am just thankful my body is starting to function like it should again :)

One of my lovely friends at work gave me some furniture the other month, it was from a house they purchased and is in pretty good condition so now Eddie and I have a Couch and a Fridge/Freezer (my fridge was starting to die as it was like 4th hand that i got from someone at our previous apartment building), I even have bedside tables and lamps. There is now way i could have justified purchasing these with how life has been so I'm so thankful. Since being at the store my contract is now held at I have made some really lovely and amazing friends and feel pretty lucky.

I started getting my Scentsy biz out there a bit more so I can grow and start making an income from it again. It's slow but steady and I got to attend conference last month and walk the stage for my 10 year Scentsy Achievement. This month I am starting to get lil samples etc out there too so I can grow my customer base here in the Gold Coast too.

I also have managed to start working towards getting my Craft biz back up and running as I managed to replace my vinyl cutter since leaving NZ! Its taken 2 years and lots of penny pinching the past 6 months and bargain watching...

The downside, now that I have it My laptop has decided to pack it in! **Bangs head on wall** I get one step forward and two steps back it feels. One of the guys at work I have made friends with has fixed it a few times but its pretty much a risk of we don't know how much longer its going to last.. so I keep having to back it up.. The boss has put aside a Mac Book for me that came off our display table the other week as after discussions with the boys, the battery life and quality for editing means I should get a more reliable laptop and I know a Mac Book will cover all that I need. The upside the boss has done me a deal and said i can have it for $1210 (its currently still selling for $1919 everywhere else). So now it's just sitting at work in the office till I have the money to pay for it lol. So tightening the belts a little more, I may have to wait a few weeks or so to pick up my next lot of insulin but at least I know once I have my new laptop I can get the craft biz back up and running and my income from that will help fund my insulin.

I have been trying to do whatever I can so maybe the universe would stop letting me have so much bad luck this year, not sure it is working though. I think I am at that point where if I don't laugh at how bad things are I will cry and I will not let that happen. I have achieved too much since we moved to let these things ruin it :) Although I got to have an amazing experience the other week rescuing a wild Lorikeet that was struggling in the heavy rain we had. It was only a young lorikeet and was out in our work driveway and couldn't fly. I managed to pick it up and one of the guys helped me get it in to a box safely and he helped me get it to the bird rescue people :) Since then the past few weeks i swear the lorikeets by our place have been hanging out more so i can see them etc which is nice :)

Ed is doing really well, just being his cheeky snuggley self, who also now loves to dribble on me while he makes biscuits lol. Which definitely makes the blows of medical costs and laptops that need replacing a little bit better... Sometimes it's hard and I wish for a fairy godmother to "fix" the problems, but I keep staying positive and remind myself we have made it 2 years here in Australia and its just some bad days in a year not a bad life. So if you don't see much of us at the moment it is because I can't get online much due to my laptop dying/or died, but we will be back once we can get the one on hold at work.

Here's some pics of Ed I took recently to share with you all and one from my birthday. <3 Love Ed & I
