My Mom Has Alzheimer’s & This AI Device Might Help Her

May 11, 2026

imageIn this episode, I share a very personal story about the struggles my mom and my brother are going through because of my mother’s Alzheimer’s. Recently, I bought an AI companion device called ATO, designed to help elderly people, especially those dealing with memory problems like Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Before sending the device to Mexico, where my mom currently lives with my brother, I wanted to test it myself and share my first impressions with you.

In this video, I demonstrate how the device works, how it can be configured in multiple languages, and how family members can communicate through the companion app by sending messages that the device reads out loud. and how the user can respond naturally just by talking to the device.

One of the things I found most interesting is that the device can interact through meaningful conversations based on the person’s interests and preferences. It can also play music from online radio stations and different music genres, which could help create a more comforting and familiar environment for elderly individuals.

Another very useful feature is the reminder system. Reminders can be configured hourly, daily, weekdays only, weekends only, weekly, monthly, every 6 months, or yearly. This could potentially help both elderly individuals and their families manage medications, appointments, routines, birthdays, hydration reminders, and everyday tasks more easily.

I also introduce myself a little bit, sharing my background as an electronic engineer specializing in automation, and explain how this channel will be a place where I casually share useful things, life experiences, technology, lessons learned, and anything else I come across that might help others in everyday life.

Nothing here is scripted. Just real life, real experiences, and honest conversations.
