If a Japanese American attends a Pearl Harbor remembrance, do we ask whether they somehow “belong” there because Imperial Japan attacked the United States?
If an American of German heritage attends a World War II memorial, do we treat them as responsible for Hitler?
Of course not.
So why would a Muslim American, including the mayor of New York City be treated as though Islam itself committed September 11?
I will discuss this tonight.
This wasn't merely a 9/11 history story. It was one of the largest urban toxic-exposure events in modern American history. Hundreds of thousands of people potentially encountered the dust: firefighters, sanitation workers, construction workers, office workers, residents, students, teachers, journalists and volunteers.
I so remember- at the time I was in my HR career and we had employees in a building 2 blocks away.
See you tonight.
