You Can Believe in God and Still Die in Your Sins
Jesus Did Not Say Believe Something About Me - He Said “Believe That I AM Who I Say I AM”
Jesus made a statement that should shake every person who thinks that simply believing there is a God is enough.
John 8:24 AMPC “That is why I told you that you will die in (under the curse of) your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He [Whom I claim to be—if you do not adhere to, trust in, and rely on Me], you will die in your sins.”
Those are not the words of a preacher trying to frighten people.
Those are the words of Jesus Christ Himself!
Jesus did not say, “As long as you believe in something, you will be fine.”
He did not say, “As long as you are spiritual, sincere, religious, moral, loving, or a good person, you will be fine.”
He said, “If you do not believe that I am He…you will die in your sins.”
That destroys the comfortable lie that Jesus is merely one acceptable option among many.
Jesus did not present Himself as one road to God.
He declared Himself to be THE WAY!
John 14:6 AMPC “Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.”
Church attendance cannot save you.
Your denomination cannot save you.
Your parents’ faith cannot save you.
Being baptized cannot replace genuine faith in Christ.
Posting scriptures cannot save you.
Knowing Christian language cannot save you.
You must know JESUS intimately!
And superficially knowing about Jesus is not the same as trusting, following, surrendering to, and belonging to Jesus.
The Warning for Today’s Believer
We live in a world increasingly comfortable with a Jesus who encourages, blesses, heals, provides, and comforts.
Yet many become uncomfortable when that same Jesus declares, “Believe in Me or die in your sins.”
We cannot edit Jesus to make Him more acceptable to the world.
We cannot preach His love while hiding His warning.
We cannot celebrate His grace while refusing His Lordship.
And we certainly cannot claim to follow Christ while being ashamed to tell people that salvation is found in Him.
The Repentance Call
Stop playing with eternity!
If you have reduced Jesus to a religious accessory while continuing to live as lord over your own life, REPENT!
If you know church, while refusing to surrender to Christ, REPENT!
If you confess Jesus with your mouth while your life continually rejects His authority, REPENT!
Run to Christ!
Trust Him.
Rely upon Him.
Surrender to Him.
Follow Him.
Because Jesus did not merely come to improve your life.
HE CAME TO SAVE YOU FROM YOUR SINS!
And John 8:24 leaves us with a truth that modern Christianity must never soften - You do not get eternity with Christ while rejecting Christ!
Question For Today
If Jesus Himself says that those who refuse to believe in Him will die in their sins, why are you trusting your eternity to anything, or anyone, other than Jesus Christ?
