Everything You Accumulate Here Will Undoubtedly Stay Here

Set Your Mind Above; Everything Else Has an Expiration Date

We spend years accumulating what we cannot keep, while sometimes neglecting what we cannot afford to lose.

More money, more possessions, bigger houses, better cars, titles, recognition, investments, collections, and comfort.

None of these things are automatically sinful.

Making them the focus of your life is where the danger begins.

Because everything you can accumulate on this earth is perishable.

Paul tells us exactly where the believer’s mind belongs in Colossians 3:1-2 (AMPC) “IF THEN you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.”

Notice the command, “SET YOUR MINDS AND KEEP THEM SET.”

Not visit heavenly things occasionally.

Not think about eternity only on Sunday.

KEEP YOUR MIND SET THERE.

Jesus makes the same truth unmistakably clear in Matthew 6:19-21 (AMPC) “Do not gather and heap up and store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal. But gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal; For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

You can accumulate millions however you will leave every dollar behind.

You can own houses and eventually someone else will live in them.

You can fill garages and storage rooms and eventually someone else will decide what happens to everything you spent your life collecting.

Nothing earthly crosses the threshold of eternity with you.

So yes, work, build, save, invest. And by all means, steward what God gives you well.

Just never confuse stewardship with eternity.

If your possessions are growing while your relationship with Christ is starving, you are accumulating the wrong treasure.

If your portfolio gets more attention than your prayer life, something is out of order.

If you know your bank balance better than you know the Word of God, something is out of order.

Everything around you is temporary, however Christ is eternal.

Question For Today

If everything you have accumulated on earth disappeared tonight, would you still possess enough treasure in Christ to know that you are rich, and if you entered eternity tonight, what have you spent your life accumulating that would actually follow you there?

If You Have Ears To Hear, Then Hear It!

I pray for you each and every day.

All God's Best!
