Über Draw Derbyshire
Connecting to creativity, people and place
Hello 🖐, I am Karen a freelance artist and creative practitioner living in Derbyshire UK. I'm really keen on drawing and aware that many feel they 'can't draw', usually because of unhelpful value judgements around what is a 'good' or 'bad' drawing. This can make people nervous about exploring drawing for themselves.
Recognising, (even as an artist) I rarely prioritise drawing and won't without a time/date in my diary, I set up Draw Derby in January 2022 - an outdoor, all welcome drawing gathering in Derby City centre and ran it for three years, hosting my final gathering in December 2024 - what a fabulous ride!
Have no fear, Draw Derby is continuing with new hosts and I've spread my wings and become Draw Derbyshire - lets share this love of drawing county wide!
The intention with Draw Derbyshire is to share drawings and drawing related thoughts and ponderings and any creative activities I run with a drawing focus or element.
If you are able to support my drawing endeavour please buy me a (sketch) book and I'll happily scribbled all over it, thank you 🙏
