Do Nothing For 2 minutes

Do Nothing For 2 minutes

May 09, 2026

I wrote this post on my LinkedIn page 1 year ago:

For many years I used a website called DoNothingFor2Minutes.com. It was super simple: you'd see the ocean, hear soothing waves, and a timer would start for 2 minutes. If you pressed any key or moved your mouse, the timer would reset. The whole idea was to just sit, look at the ocean, and listen to the waves for 2 minutes - nothing else. It was such a helpful little break during the workday rush!

But recently, when I tried to open the site, I was redirected to Calm.com, a meditation/relaxation app. Maybe Calm is a great app (and I've seen a lot of similar apps and YouTube videos with timers and relaxing sounds), but I really missed the simplicity of the original site. I wanted that exact experience back!

So last night I sat down with my laptop and Cursor and built my own version: DoNothingFor2Minutes.org. It's not perfect and not exactly like the original, but hey, "release early, release often," right?

Let me know what you think in the comments. I'll add your feedback to my backlog and try to make the site as good as possible. Let's see how far we can get!

☺️

Since that post, some things have changed and a few have been added, but not significantly. I want to keep the website simple and as free as possible.
