D&D Games: the final stretch before public launch ☕

Sep 29, 2026

D&D Games is moving into its final release-preparation stage, with public opening planned for 1 October 2026.

A lot has happened since the last update. Alongside the new features, there has been plenty of less glamorous but important work: checking permissions, cleaning up older character data, improving account controls and making sure the application behaves properly when people actually use it.

With the latest mobile-browser checks looking good, the focus is now on preparing the release candidate rather than squeezing in another enormous feature.

The hamster has been informed. It has requested a larger wheel and annual leave.

More tools for your table

D&D Games now brings together character sheets, campaign management and content tools in one place.

There are Modern and Classic character-sheet layouts, alongside a separate Blank Sheet character option for people who prefer a more hands-on, pen-and-paper approach. Both 2014 and 2024 content are supported, with D&D Beyond importing and safer character re-sync designed to protect local changes.

For Game Masters, the application includes campaign invitations and join approvals, encounter tools, shared campaign content and active effects. Community Content Studio adds homebrew creation, publishing and versioned community content, with GM control over what is adopted into a campaign.

The Firefox D&D Beyond Companion has also been approved, joining the existing Chrome extension. Both official installation routes are now included in the application’s setup guidance.

Better guidance, clearer permissions and control over your data

The new Help Centre and dashboard getting-started checklist give new users somewhere to begin without needing a personal guided tour.

Accounts also have My Data & Stats, a download of their own stored account data and account-deletion controls. GM and administrator areas are restricted to the appropriate accounts, while campaign ownership remains separate from access to GM Mode.

Behind the scenes, health checks and monitoring are now running on the live server, helping identify application and connection problems.

What stays free, and what support unlocks

Standard Player access remains free. When public registration opens, it will not require a subscription, invitation or Discord role.

GM Mode can be unlocked through a GM invite, the appropriate linked role in The D&D Void, or a qualifying supporter tier. The existing Discord Content Studio access route also remains available.

For Buy Me a Coffee supporters:

Fuel the Adventure includes GM Mode and Content Studio while your membership is active.

Champion of the Void includes GM Mode and Content Studio while active, plus access to the planned VTT when it launches while your membership remains active.

Forever Free! is the one-time lifetime option, including lifetime GM Mode and Content Studio access, alongside its promised lifetime access to the planned VTT.

The VTT is not available yet. It remains the next major development phase after this launch preparation.

Support is appreciated, never expected. It helps cover hosting, maintenance and the work that goes into improving D&D Games.

A proper thank-you to our testers

The Supporters & Credits page is now in place, including a dedicated section for the Discord members who helped test the application:

Arias/Mark, Elowen, Flaps88, I am SPECTATING, Omega and Turtle.

Thank you for finding the awkward bits, trying things I had not thought of and helping turn this into something better. Giving your time and feedback has made a real difference.

What happens next?

The next step is feature freeze and release-candidate preparation: lock down the feature set, prepare the launch build and release notes, and keep the focus on fixes rather than new systems.

1 October is the planned public opening, not the end of development.

Thank you to everyone who has tested, encouraged, supported or simply taken an interest in this project.

Better tools. More adventures. A little more coffee.
