As I take on bigger projects and work more and more in study I realised that the more I get involved in to the Pro Tools that the more likely it was that the real estate of a 27" wasn't going to be enough in my office in my bedroom I have a 32" monitor and when I define the "Office" that means where I play video games, multi media, YouTube, general research and other stuff, such as writing these articles these are generally done in here with the odd Pro Tools Video Assignment as the Video Engine isn't support on M1 Macs yet.
Dual Monitors are a god send for the creative flow, there's so much you can do with two monitors and I don't think many people realise how essential good workflow and good habits are. Ergonomics are one of the most underrated things in the world to be honest. Like I think that they are some of the most important things you can do for production.
The advantages for me personally is working in Pro Tools on the MAC the added ability of dual displays allows me to work with the mix and edit windows both visible on there own display which means I have a streamlined work flow when working with larger projects such as Dialogue mashups, Editing across multiple programs and also the ability to run a different application on each screen.
The other ability for me is studying at the MAC allows me to run a word document on one screen and have our study portal open on another screen if you have a iPad you could definitely take this even more next level by using the Sidecar function but I rock a Samsung S7 tablet and not a iPad.
I think to take my system to the next level would be an amazing ultrawide monitor and some of them have become quite cheap now days, but would I switch to a ultrawide I think yes due to I know how important space is to me and the fact that I would gain another PowerPoint back would be an added bonus cause power is a rare commodity in my studio and I have mentioned that multiple times and it's just the time of the life.
I think dual monitors are essential for the studio and as the projects become bigger and more productive, the use of two monitors adds to my productivity which is a major bonus for me personally.
