đŸ”„How to Stop Being a Dumb Christian

đŸ”„How to Stop Being a Dumb Christian

Nov 05, 2025

I can always tell when I’m listening to a dumb Christian

you know, someone who doesn’t read but constantly repeats talking points from people who clearly have an agenda that goes beyond what they’re letting on.

All you have to do is take a look at a person’s belief system to know where they stand.
Let’s use the belief system of a Christian to make my point.

Walking in Darkness

When a person is walking in darkness, that means they haven’t come to the light of who God is.
And in order for anyone to know God, we must be taught by Him.

Enter Jesus.

Scripture declares that the God of creation would send the Anointed One, the Lord’s Christ, into the world to save His people.
Everyone who hears His words and listens will be saved.

That’s how you know who His people are:
the ones who receive Him, hear Him, and obey.

What Obedience Really Means

Let’s take the word obey and break it down.

I’m not talking about obedience rooted in fear or control, though every Christian I know carries a healthy, reverent fear of God, just like we do toward our earthly parents.

We stand in awe of all He has done, including creating us in His image.

We obey His Word when it says:

  • Love one another — even when that’s hard.

  • Take care of others — even those who persecute us.

  • Honor your body — don’t defile it.

It’s not what goes into the body that defiles it, but what comes out.

When we speak vile things or untruths about Him or toward others, we defile ourselves.
We go against the very nature of humanity when we spew out hateful things, because it exposes the darkness saturating our hearts.

When Love Becomes Proof

As Christians, we want everyone to know Him and obey His teachings about loving God and others.
But we understand that not everyone will.

In Christianity, how we love others reveals whether we truly obey the voice of God.

If I meet someone who rejects Jesus, I don’t threaten them or try to force them into compliance.
What I do is ask questions.
I try to understand why they reject His calling.

That might annoy some people, but it’s not dangerous.
I’m not threatening their life or existence just because they’re annoyed by me.

The most they can do is curse me out or reject me, which is fine.
I’ll take the cue, dust off my feet, and move on.

Does that mean I shut up about the Truth?
No, I don’t.

Most likely, that person will want nothing more to do with me
.
delete me from their world entirely
.
and my peace will depart with me.

That’s it.

The Warning Few Want to Hear

For a while now, I’ve listened to others who walk in the Way of Truth warn about false teachers.
And I’ve noticed something

the more you warn, the more you’re ignored and rejected.
Even by those who claim to follow Jesus.

When it comes to that subject, I’ve realized this:

Anyone can follow a fireman out of a burning building and still choose to stop halfway through, ignoring the rest of his directions on how to escape.

Some will say, “I think I see a better way out
”
and suddenly, they ignore the one who actually knows what they’re talking about.

The person who stops listening will eventually be caught in the flames — all because they trusted in their own way.

So when it comes to that, I’ve washed my hands of trying to convince people who are too prideful to take the warnings.

False teachers aren’t new.
When Jude wrote to the early church to warn them, that was just the beginning.
Now we’re a thousand-plus years deeper into even worse conditions.

If they didn’t listen to Jude then, most won’t listen now.

Wolves in Costumes

So, let’s draw attention to those who have real agendas to destroy people

the ones who come dressed in costumes, whose true goal is to bring others into hateful compliance and deception.

False religion that cares nothing for women, children, or anyone else

just control.

These people know exactly how to reach the dumb ones, because they’ve already studied them.
They’ve seen how easily people claim to know “the way out,” yet constantly reject the Truth.

They know who they are, and they target them:
the ones with no discernment.
Not because God hasn’t given it to them,
but because they reject it altogether.

Love warns them, but they shake their fists and plug their ears.

They scream, “You bigot!” when a messenger cries,
“You’re going the wrong way, it’s this way!”

And they respond, “No! I’ll follow the nice guy.”

Even if that “nice guy” is just leading them in circles

patient enough to slip through the right door while leaving them behind to burn as the building collapses.

That is the goal of the wolf.

He comes dressed in nice suits, with fake smiles and relatable stories that sound true.
He convinces you the door to safety is blocked.

“Not that way,” he says. “Come this way!”

And without thinking twice, the foolish ones leave the right path

and follow the wolf.

The Call to Discernment in the Last Days

We are living in a time when deception wears a smile and calls itself “love.”
When truth is labeled hate, and compromise is called compassion.

Discernment has never been more crucial.
Not the kind that makes you suspicious of everyone,
but the kind that keeps you anchored to the Word of God when everything around you sounds spiritual but isn’t.

The Spirit of Truth is still speaking,
but not everyone is listening.

To discern in this hour means to stay close to the Shepherd.
It means to test every voice, every “prophet,” every “teaching” against Scripture

not against feelings, not against trends, not against popularity.

Because the wolf doesn’t always come howling.
Sometimes he comes softly, quoting half-truths, twisting words that sound holy.
And without discernment, even the elect can be deceived.

So, no
this isn’t the time to play nice with lies.
This is the time to stand firm.

To love people enough to warn them.
To care enough to speak up.
To follow Jesus even if you have to walk alone.

The path is narrow.
The truth is costly.
But the reward is eternal.

From Dumb to Obedient

So why did I start this post with, “I can always tell when I’m listening to a dumb Christian”?

Because for a long time, I thought when Scripture warned the church about wolves, it was just talking about people who preach a watered-down gospel.
But it goes so much deeper than that.

The warning is for those who allow a false gospel to infiltrate the congregation, and not only that, but our living spaces as well.

A religion that rejects the Son is no true religion at all

it’s a façade, designed to lead the foolish.

Now, what’s the definition of dumb?
Someone who is foolish or unable to speak.

But here’s the good news: it doesn’t have to stay that way.

I recently shared a video about Zechariah, the father of John.
When the angel brought him a message from the Lord, his response was, “How can I know?”

What do you mean, “How can I know?”
You were just told!

The angel stood before God and spoke the very words he received from Him

that’s how you can know!

But when you don’t love and obey the Lord, you’ll question His word to you.
And Zechariah did just that.

As a result, he became dumb.
His mouth was literally shut until after John was born

until he obeyed the Lord by confirming the name God had given: “His name is John.”

He didn’t name his son. Neither did Elizabeth.
God did.

It was the woman who said, “His name is John,” because she aligned herself with the Word,
while her husband was silent for a season.

But the moment he obeyed and confirmed the Word of the Lord,
his mouth was opened.
And the Spirit of God filled him to speak.

And what did he speak?
He spoke the very words of God.

No more doubt.
No more disbelief.
No more foolishness.

The same can happen today.

For those who are spiritually dumb, unintelligent toward God’s Word,
or silent when they should speak

you don’t have to stay that way.

Grab your tablet, your phone, your voice

and proclaim what you know:
the Truth.

Because if you align yourself with those who reject the Truth

who lead others in circles until the flames consume them

you’ll be devoured right along with them.

But the moment you change your mind,
acknowledge, “I do know the Truth,”
and begin to proclaim it

that’s the moment you will no longer be the dumb Christian,
but the obedient one.

Closing Reflection

When your eyes are opened and your mouth begins to speak the Truth, it’s no longer about winning arguments or proving who’s right.
It’s about standing where God told you to stand, even if you stand alone.

Obedience will always cost something, but silence will cost you more.
Because the moment you choose to obey, heaven backs your words.
The same Spirit that opened Zechariah’s mouth will open yours

not to echo the noise of this world, but to declare the Kingdom of God.

And in that obedience, your voice becomes light in the dark.
Your witness becomes war against deception.
And your silence?
It turns into a sound that shakes hell itself.

So speak, not as the dumb Christian,
but as one awakened, filled, and sent.

And in that truth, I rest. 🌿
