When doctors told me, at six, that I would never be free of this "disease," I thought my life was over at that moment. I mean, how does a six-year-old comprehend "forever" with a disease she doesn't understand? She cannot even spell "d-i-s-e-a-s-e" at that point in her life!
Fast forward to quite a few decades past that, and while I appreciate doctors and certainly appreciate technology, there seems to be an expectation that bodies can read books and then do what the books say. It should be the other way around here! Bodies do not know they are supposed to subscribe to the "book version" of the definition of diabetes!
I am not a medical doctor (but one class away from my doctorate in psychology)... But, I have more experience with Type 1 diabetes than many doctors have been on this earth. I am not trying to replace them, just here to let you know that you, too, can live with this disease and even live happily ever after... and with a sense of humor :D
Come join me as we travel together; whether you are diabetic or you have another challenging aspect of life, all are welcome, and we can learn and encourage each other :)
I am a multi-award-winning podcaster and #1 Jazz singer to boot, but fave thing is to sit back with you all ... chatting with a cup of cappuccino in my hands... (er Diet Coke) :) 🧋
