I build ESP-KVM - an open-source IP-KVM anyone can afford.
Hi, I'm the developer behind ESP-KVM.
ESP-KVM is open-source firmware that turns a ~$40 ESP32-P4 board into a
KVM-over-IP: it captures a machine's HDMI, acts as its USB keyboard and mouse,
and puts both in your browser. It is the kind of device that lets you fix a
computer stuck in BIOS, a dead boot loader, or a kernel that will not come up -
from another room or another country - without paying hundreds for a commercial
box.
It is free, open source, and it stays that way. A coffee helps cover the parts
this runs on - boards, HDMI capture chips, cables, the odd microSD card - and
the time to keep building what is next: ATX power control, HDMI audio, support
for more boards.
If ESP-KVM saved you a trip to a server room, or you just like that a thing like
this exists in the open, a coffee means a lot. And if you would rather help build
it, issues, ideas and pull requests are just as welcome:
