I love Portugal so much that I moved here in 2021. Since then, my girlfriend and I have set out to explore as much of this beautiful country as possible and document its culinary culture.
From the monster Francesinha sandwich in the north to tasty fig and almond stars in The Algarve, we’ve tried to sample every dish we could find. There’s also incredible wine in Portugal, from the famous Port houses to the vines in the sand of Colares, Portuguese wine is extraordinary and often affordable. And, don’t forget the pastries! Each city and town, it seems, has its own sweet calling card. Sure, there’s the famous Pastel de Nata in Lisbon, but there’s also the delicious convent sweets of Évora, and even a cake shaped like a momma pig nursing her piglets!
Each chapter in “Portugal – Foodie Travel Guide” outlines the best things to eat and drink in a particular city, the places to try them, and cool things to do. However, this guide shouldn’t be thought of as a comprehensive list of everything to eat and everywhere to eat it. You may find other dining spots and things to do worthy of your time.
