We feel encouraged to announce that the District Health Officer, District Education Officer and Chief Administrative Officer, Gulu district local government gave us a go ahead concerning our Schools Sickle Cell Screening Campaign this year, to begin in February. We're working on the road-map, together with the head teachers of the various institutions of learning in Gulu district.
Secondary schools and higher institutions of learning harbor young adults, who are about to get married. That's why it's important that we provide them with preventive tools such as screening and counseling.
Northern Region has the highest sickle cell burden compared to other regions of Uganda, and that why Tackle Sickle Cell Africa is here, on the grassroots.
