In years gone by, this publication would have been unnecessary. Faced with competitive, regulatory, economic or existential threat, the UK demolition industry of old would have rolled up its collective sleeves, united and rallied to see off its common foe.

Sadly, that is no longer the case. The willingness to stand and fight for the right of the sector that once categorised the demolition industry is gone. In its place, there is a silent apathy.

Now, as the very nature of the industry is under threat from the increasingly vocal and influential environmental lobby, that silence is deafening; that apathy is crushing.

With industry leaders seemingly asleep at the wheel, DemolitionNews is stepping into unfamiliar and uncharted waters to give a voice to the voiceless; to arm demolition contractors with the information they need to fight their cause against the embodied carbon juggernaut; and to defend the demolition industry and its contribution to the circular economy.

This publication will not turn back the environmental tide; it may not alter the growing “retrofit-first” mindset. But we hope it will give you the tools to help mount a meaningful defence of demolition.

Because surrender is NOT an option.
