DeFlock Bay Area is a volunteer effort dedicated to exposing the spread and implications of automated license plate readers and mass vehicle surveillance. We research public records, contracts, policies, camera deployments, data-retention practices, data sharing, costs, and other records to bring the public extensive, accurate, and well-sourced information about the Orwellian devices known as Flock cameras—and ALPR systems generally. We also develop and maintain multiple DeFlock websites covering communities throughout California. Contributions help pay for domains, hosting, public-records requests, research, printed materials, and the substantial time required to investigate, verify, organize, publish, and continually update this information .. and it even buys us some coffee.
