Hello everyone!
I have been so busy selling furniture and donating things to prepare for a closing date and beginning a real retirement. It is scary and exciting at the same time. My plans have changed several times over the past month but are now a little more set.
I’ll be heading to my cousins place in upstate New York after closing. Spend some time helping him with getting his house finished and property ready for summer. He will be my home base when I’m not traveling via car or plane.
The end of May I’ll be house sitting for a week back here in New Hampshire. Then my trip up the coast of Maine and over to the mountains of New Hampshire will take place the month of June.
Mexico is my next destination. The entire months of July, August, and September will be spent in Puerto Vallarta with some short excursions to other towns close by. My brother will be keeping my car driven while I’m gone which is a big help as I can’t be without a car while in the States.
The fall will have me back in upstate New York which will be glorious. Then back to Mexico for the entire Winter! Yes! Four months! This time in San Miguel de Allende which is up in the mountains.
These trips to Mexico will also be a scouting trip to decide if I want to make Mexico my semipermanent home. I’ll be returning to the states just in the summer months.
It is a huge step but a necessity. Cost of living would make it necessary to work the rest of my life. I’ll be 68 in a few days and I am mentally and physically exhausted from being a caretaker for so many years. I need to put myself in a place where I can enjoy living.
These are the plans but as we all know to well much can happen in one month never mind a full year! Traveling is something I have wanted to do my entire life. It is now or never!
