The need for helping elderly individuals or couples remain in their home is increasing as our global population ages. Cognitive processing offers opportunities to assist the elderly by sensing and responding to their actions, needs, and wishes.
To improve overall health many factors must be considered, including diet, exercise, medication adherence, and many other physical metrics, but other non-measurable components (e.g. loneliness) need proxies.
While many approaches require devices to be worn, charged and kept up-to-date, as well as send uncontrolled quantities and details of personal information to the Cloud and potentially unknown consumers, the AgeAtHome experiment is based on minimizing the information shared while maximizing the value for any shared information.
The AgeAtHome project's objective is to improve the lives of people, starting with the elderly, by sensing and responding in the home and leveraging the cloud to understand, learn, plan, and share teachings from those interactions.
