How Much Do RoK Maths and Game Knowledges Matter for Kill Points?

Apr 08, 2026

We spend a huge amount of time on this page and across Discord servers trying to help the Rise of Kingdoms community become more familiar with RoK maths, optimization, and account min-maxing.

Our goal has always been simple: help players make better decisions and build their accounts in the most efficient way possible.

But one argument we still hear from time to time is this:

“Some top players don’t use any of this and still perform incredibly well, so the maths must be wrong.”

And honestly, that is exactly why this article matters.

Today, I want to take a step back and look at the real place of high-level game understanding, account optimization, and RoK maths when it comes to the goal that most players care about most:

Gaining Kill Points and consistently trading positive.

As strange as it may sound coming from someone known for RoK maths, maths is far from being the most determinant factor.

It is important—but it sits inside a much bigger hierarchy of battlefield factors.

So in this article, I want to break down, in order of importance, how I personally rank the real elements that lead to strong KP performance.

Because in the end, big KP is rarely about just one thing.

It is the result of many layers working together.

Some players with average accounts outperform whales.
Some whales massively underperform despite perfect gear.
Some kingdoms may generate huge KP with weaker accounts simply because their battlefield structure is better.

So what really matters most?

Here is the true order of importance when your goal is maximizing Kill Points and Trades.

1) Understanding the Field — Experience

The first and biggest multiplier is battlefield reading.

Experienced players instantly understand:

  • where the fight is about to move

  • which side is collapsing

  • where reinforcements are coming from

  • when a murderball is about to shift

  • when an objective fight is about to explode

  • when to stay and when to leave

Timing difference is massive. Be one second late to pull back, and you are dead. Bring back fresh marches into a murderball about to collapse, and you will get so many severely wounded and fill your hospital quickly. Refresh at the moment enemy's murderball is about to die and you are missing an opportunity to get insane trades.

This is why some players generate KP so consistently: they fight where the battlefield is favorable.

2) Taking the Opportunities

Once you understand the field, the next skill is exploiting openings.

Good KP chasers are exceptional at spotting:

  • isolated marches

  • red hp-bar targets

  • retreating enemies

  • troops overextending

  • slow infantry/archer caught behind

  • glass cannon marches

  • late entries into the ball

In this same category, we could put the city hop strategy.

3) Strength of Your Team

RoK is never a solo KP game.

Your kingdom and alliance structure directly impacts how easy it is to generate good trades.

A stronger team gives you:

  • better shot-calling

  • stronger murderball density

  • higher quality teammates

  • safer frontline pressure

  • discipline

  • better reinforcement timing

  • objective control

This is why players in S+ kingdoms often post insane KP numbers: their personal skill matters, but the team environment multiplies every positive trade.

Dominant vs Dominated

Battlefield dominance changes everything.

When your side controls the momentum : more targets stay exposed, your AoE hits more, skill cycles keep going, you can fight longer in low-hp...

When your side is dominated: high chances your marches to get trapped, AoE is more punishing, retreat paths are unsafe, uptime falls, your marches die faster once in low-hp...

The same player can produce radically different KP depending on who controls field.

5) Activity — Pilots

The accounts with huge KP stay online. It really is that simple.

No matter how optimized an account is, KP only comes when marches are on the field during the important fighting windows.

This is also why pilots can dramatically increase the KP output of big spender accounts, especially when they are paid based on KP performance.

The account simply never leaves the battlefield.

Whether this is a good or bad thing for overall kingdom performance is a different question.

From a pure KP perspective, however, activity remains one of the strongest multipliers in the game.

6) Settings and Network

A surprisingly underrated factor.

Wrong settings, client-side lags or unstable network can ruin KP efficiency.

7) Fighting Skills

Reactivity, Stacking technique, tactical maneuvers, rage transfer, micro management... all these skills matter

This is the technical battlefield layer.

Stacking technique

Elite players usually position in brawl fights by using this technique, largely popularized by Enzo.

Despite the fact that some of your commanders may underperform using it (maybe a topic for a future article), your overall setup will increase in performance by limitating the bad positioning of some of your troops.

8) Techs / Spending

Spending helps, of course.

Better tech means better stats, stronger troops, and better trades over time.

But this only amplifies what is already there.

A big spender with poor field understanding will often gain less KP than a smart and active mid spender.

Spending raises your ceiling.

9) Commanders — Pairing : the Right Choices

Choosing your marches wisely is, of course, an important factor.

You are obviously looking at strong and meta commanders, but also at choices that fit your own playstyle.

Depending on your style, preferences, and your KvK environment, you may value certain strengths more than others, such as march speed, fast rage cycles, sustainability, high AoE density, strong single-target damage, or support utility.

Synergy matters as well.

Some commanders naturally improve the performance of your other marches.

A good example is debuff synergy: do the debuffs from one march increase the efficiency of the rest of your ball?

This is why commanders like Hermann Prime can fall out of your meta in highly focused smite/combo murderballs, but can still be a top choice in highly focused skill damage murderballs.

It is also at this level that we really start to see the impact of game knowledge.

Understanding how commanders work, their strengths, their weaknesses, and how they interact with both your own marches and the KvK environment.

You can also find several commander breakdowns on our page, where we tested and analysed, designed to help you better understand how they perform.

10) Equipment and Armaments Quality

Equipment choices matter.

Forging the best pieces and choosing the right accessories will improve every trade. But at this stage, we are mostly looking at a few extra percentages of combat effectiveness added on top of the higher-priority factors.

That is why random gear mistakes are sometimes less dramatic than players think, especially compared to battlefield understanding or activity.

You can find some of the maths work done by Bilegt in our collaboration tool here, which helps suggest the best gear sets depending on your marches.

For accessories, not much has really changed over the years. Yet players are still often misled by new fancy options or simply by bad influence from others.

Some articles on this page already cover that topic, and we also plan to release a full accessories summary guide soon, so stay tuned.

Armaments can matter even more once your legendary sets are already forged.

At that point, rare and special inscriptions start scaling your marches much harder, bringing powerful boosts and extra-multipliers.

This is why true kraken accounts with 5, 6, or even 7 full special inscription setups hit so much harder.

For most players, however, the key question is simply which inscriptions to prioritize, and that quickly becomes an important optimization topic.

We hope our work helped players move in the right direction.

And now it is time to move into the larger topic: Rok Maths and Game Knowledges

11) RoK Maths and Game Knowledge

This is where all the work we do really makes sense.

For people who have known me for a while, this is something I worked on behind the scenes for many years, helping my own kingdom and teammates. This whole RoK nerd journey also led to some amazing encounters with incredibly smart players who helped me grow my knowledges in many different ways.

My work on stat weighting and the tool I created was really the starting point of this journey becoming more public. I also want to take a moment to thank The King's Codex for giving this work a public place, and the all YouTube creators who continue to mention my work whenever these topics come up.

RoK maths helps players better understand the value of their choices and move their account in the right direction.

Through our commander breakdowns, tools, and articles, the goal has always been the same: help players make smarter decisions. Several other people contribute a lot in this direction.

It helps answer many of the simple but important questions players have, especially when new things arrive in the game, like commanders, accessories, formations, or new systems.

More than just numbers, maths helps players avoid big mistakes, optimize their account, and improve their overall game knowledge.

Of course, RoK maths is not everything you should rely on. Your own preferences and playstyle still matter a lot. But we truly believe there is always room to improve, and that information based on real work/trustable tests/simulations, not only opinions, has an important place in a game where misinformation spreads so easily.

Everything is rushed now. Everyone wants to be the first to give recommendations, not to mention this unbearable trend of “I predicted it guys.”
Learning to be patient, taking a step back, and judging the quality of the information is probably a skill many players still need to unlock.

It will never replace battlefield experience, but it helps good players make better decisions, especially during the off-season and pre-KvK, when you have more time to save, plan, and think about your account development.

12) RSS / Speedups — Ability to Fight Longer

This part is simple: the longer you can fight, the more KP you can gain.

No matter how skilled or optimized an account is, it becomes useless once it runs out of RSS or speedups.

Having good rss sources, and enough speedups recovery allows you to stay active during the most important KvK moments.

In the end, KP is not only about fighting well, but also about being able to keep fighting when others have to stop.

Now, with all that being said : Should You Be a KP Chaser?

This is probably the most important strategic question of the article.

The answer is simple:

Only if KP chasing aligns with kingdom objectives.

Pure KP chasing often hurts team spirit, creates frustration among teammates, and can even become a reason why objectives are lost.

Of course, nobody enjoys taking terrible trades and burning so much RSS that they have to stop fighting too early. That part is understandable.

But every serious player must accept one reality: there will always be situations where the team matters more than the individual.

Sometimes the best play for the kingdom is not the best play for your personal KP.

With the rise of piloting, leadership teams in top kingdoms are also looking more and more at tank score.

What is a tank score? It is when an account shows a very high amount of severely wounded received compared to dealt, while still maintaining huge KP.

Combined with strong total kills, this often shows that the account was not only focused on selfish KP gains, but was willing to frontline, absorb pressure, and take difficult trades for the kingdom.

In today’s RoK, this kind of profile is becoming more and more valued by leadership.

Final Thought

If there is one key takeaway from this article, it is that RoK maths and game knowledge absolutely matter, but only at the right layer of importance.

They are not the first thing that will make your KP explode. Battlefield understanding, opportunity taking, team strength and activity will always come first.

What maths and game knowledge do is help players refine everything that comes after, avoid big mistakes, and make sure their account keeps moving in the right direction.

That is why we truly believe optimization has a real place in KP performance, even if it is far from being the most determinant factor.

At the same time, chasing KP should never make players forget what it means for the team.

Your kingdom sometimes needs you to frontline, take rough trades, burn RSS, or simply make the play that helps secure the objective rather than your personal stats.

That is where real contribution often shows.

Now I would really love to open the discussion with you.

What other factors would you include in this ranking?
How differently would you order them?
Do you think optimization through maths is a great way to improve, or do you feel it is overrated?

This is exactly why we keep building this page: to improve together around topics like RoK maths, optimization, and real battlefield efficiency.

And as always, I love hearing what you all think, being challenged, and exchanging ideas together.
