An episode of Inspector Morse, the television detective drama starring John Thaw, made David Kerekes think long ago that Oxford, a city with one of the oldest libraries in Europe, was likely a nice place be — despite all the murders. Moving first from Manchester to London, he now finds himself living there, in Oxford, a sort of inspirational home as well as a literal one.
He runs Headpress, a long-running publisher of nonfiction books, writes extensively on pop culture, and is co-author of the books Killing For Culture and Cannibal Error, author of the biography on filmmaker Jörg Buttgereit, Sex Murder Art, and Mezzogiorno, a meditation on three generations of family life in the impoverished South of Italy. In 2021, he launched a book imprint devoted to memoir, Oil On Water Press.
