On October 7, 2023, my little Miar woke up, dressed herself, and prepared her school bag to head to school... But!! Hours later, my daughter was shocked to learn that she had to replace her school bag with a displacement bag, and there is a huge difference between the two bags.
We fled from our home in northern Gaza to the south. Throughout the journey, shells and rockets were falling on us, and Miar kept screaming and repeating the same sentence over and over: "Mom, I don't want to die now!! I don't want to leave my sister Basma." Finally, we miraculously reached the south and temporarily escaped death!
Miar waited for the war to end so she could resume her studies. She waited for a month, two months, three months, but in vain—the war didn't end, and Miar did not return to her home and school. She decided to continue her studies on her own without a teacher, school, or even textbooks. She always tells me, "The world without knowledge and learning seems terrifying. I don't want to be uneducated. I want to become a doctor and treat the sick and the wounded of wars."
I try to help her achieve her dream and manage to get her some notebooks and stationery with great difficulty. But my friends, she needs your help too to travel outside Gaza and complete her education like the rest of the children in the world.
