Like many FFXI players, I've quit and re-subbed many times over the years. After coming back from almost a decade away, I soon realized that the game was very different than it used to be! There were a ton of new things to do, the battle mechanics were much faster paced, and (to my pleasant surprise), there were a lot of quality of life improvements. One of these improvements was Trusts. What is a Trust? A Trust (or Alter Ego) is an NPC from the storyline that you can summon to fight at your side (pretty cool, right?). This would surely make catching up on new content easier.
As I embarked on my new FFXI journey, I joined the mass of other players and created a second account to help me and my friends progress faster. However, I quickly learned it was hard to control two characters! While there were already several amazing Windower add-ons that let you do things like cure, they only worked for a handful of jobs and it was difficult to coordinate using them all together. That's when I thought, what if my second character could be like a Trust and work on any job?
It seemed crazy at first--the idea that I could write AI for all 22 FFXI jobs? But after one too many Converts followed by instant deaths from Koru-Moru, I finally began my journey to write what has now become my project of passion, aptly named Trust.
While I originally kept Trust between me and my friends, before I quit last year, I decided to release what I had done to the FFXI community completely for free. I'm happy to say that the unexpected adoption and enjoyment from seeing y'all use it has brought me back.
