Jang, who retired from the KBL after the 2022-2023 season, moved to Japan.

May 20, 2024

He played in the Kagawa Five Arrows in the B.3 league for one season.

Kagawa entered the playoffs as the second-place finisher with 40 wins and 10 losses in the regular season. He defeated Tokyo United BC with two wins (71-66, 87-75) in the quarterfinal playoff, but failed to advance to the championship, losing two games (63-72, 83-86) to Kagoshima Revnaiz in the semifinal playoff. As a result, Kagawa was unable to be promoted to the b.2 league.토토사이트 순위

In the 47 games of the regular season, Jang played an average of 15 minutes and 8 seconds, recording 4.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.4 assists. In terms of playing time, he was the sixth most prolific six-man player in his team. He played the seventh largest number of games. Unlike in the KBL, Jang frequently attempted three-point shots, and his success rate was 27.5 percent (28/102).

However, the duration of participation was jagged. The duration of participation in games in which players played for more than 20 minutes was the same for 13 games each. In games in which players played for more than 20 minutes, he recorded an average success rate of 6.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 34.1 percent (15/44) of 3-point shooting, while in games in which players played for less than 10 minutes, he showed sluggish performance, as he failed to make any fielders (12 attempts). In games in which players played between 10 and 20 minutes, he recorded an average of 4.7 points and 3.0 rebounds.

Jang, whose contract with Kagawa expired, plans to arrive in Korea on Wednesday to prepare for the next season. Since it has been one year since Jang retired from the KBL, he can sign a contract with any team in the KBL provided he obtains the consent of the Seoul SK Wyverns.

The following is the question and answer I had with Jang Moon-ho by phone on the 19th.

Played B.3 League. The team finished second in the regular league, how good was it?

Before I came to Japan, I also thought it was a lower league. Basically, two foreign players play in Japan. I didn't think it was a lower league than I thought, and the level didn't drop. It was lower than B.1 or KBL, but it wasn't bad because there were foreign players and good guards. There is a competition called Emperor's Cup in which all Japanese teams participate. We also won the team in the B.1 League. In the short term, basketball is similar to the B.1 League because we don't know the game.

Even though it is a B.3 league (18 teams in total), there are a lot of games.

Last season, several games were canceled due to earthquakes and other reasons. The regular B.3 league is 54 games, the same as the KBL, and the Emperor's Cup is a tournament, and we played three games. The B.1 league and the B.2 league have 60 games.

The game is held on weekends.

It was very difficult at first. The games are played at 6 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. After the game on Saturday, when I wake up, it is time for me to play on Sunday. If it was a 2 p.m. game on weekends, the KBL also has a 24-hour interval because the next game is also a 2 p.m. game. This is not the case here. After playing the first game, it was difficult in the second game, but I got used to it after playing the season. The KBL also plays three games a week, but it was okay because I got used to playing two games a week.

The team made it to the semifinals, but Jang did not play in the playoffs.

I lost to seventh place in the quarterfinals and to third place in the semifinals. I had an injury ahead of the playoffs, so I couldn't play. It was a tough situation. In the quarterfinals, I wanted to sit on the bench even though I was sick, so I went on the roster. I warmed up to prepare for the game in the quarterfinals, but my body got worse. I hurt my hip when I tripped and fell. I couldn't lift my leg because my blood was full. I'm getting treatment, but it's okay because it's not a serious injury. I couldn't play in the playoffs because I had a shock at the time. If I went to the finals, I would have been promoted to the B.2 league.

According to Jang's record, 60 percent (102 out of 170) of field throws accounted for three-point shooting. Why did he focus on three-point shooting unlike the KBL?

Rather than saying that one of the two foreign players is not a guard, but he plays outside, so I defended the opponent team's foreign player No. 4 (power forward). The team asked me to play in 3&D because two foreign players were running. In the offense, they wanted me to play space. I don't do this or that while holding the ball. When I get a chance, I throw a shot. That's why many attempts were made to shoot three-point shots.

It was definitely good in matches where he played for less than 10 minutes without scoring any field throws and more than 20 minutes.

The height of Japanese players was small for each team, so I went to defend foreign players rather than defending guards. I couldn't play when there were many small players in the matchup with the opposing team. When they focused more on defense than using mismatches, their playing time decreased. When there was a match with the opposing team or when there were foreign players, they went to the defense and the playing time differed from game to game.

In the early days of this season, he started as a starter and played for more than 20 minutes from mid-November before suddenly playing less time. Then, he continued to play for more than 10 minutes from mid-February.

It depends on the team, and at the end of the year and the beginning of the year, the playing time was like that. The biggest thing is the color of the team. I think I found a way to utilize myself late. Also, the composition of the players has been steady since January. If there are eight players who mainly play, they have played in the playoffs with eight to nine players. That was not the case before that. In Japan, new players come in in the middle of the season as free agents.

What did the club wish for Jang Moon-ho?

When I first entered the team, there were many young players, so I hoped to play an intermediate role as a veteran. While studying Japanese, I played such a role because I socialized with Japanese players and felt strongly that I was in between them. Both Japanese and foreign players got along well. Foreign players who speak English did not know the situation of Japanese players and Japanese players did not know exactly what the situation of foreign players, so I played a role as a link in the middle.

How did you communicate?

There was an interpreter, so I mainly spoke English. I studied Japanese, spoke a little Japanese, and talked English with foreign players. It was hard because my English was not perfect. The terms of basketball were similar, so there was no big problem. However, it was different from speaking English perfectly, so at first it was difficult. I started playing basketball late and studied basic, so I played English with foreign players when I was in Korea. That's the line. Like Lee Dae-sung, Yang Jae-min, and Lee Hyun-joong, he is not perfect and can speak English simply. It is a level without a problem to hang out while talking.

This happened because I lived without an interpreter in Japanese. I studied very hard and tried to hang out with Japanese players. Our area is rural, not urban. There are not many Korean residents. It was among the Japanese. I thought that speaking Japanese would help me anywhere, and I thought it would be a strength no matter where I worked, so I studied Japanese hard.

How did you spend your five days on weekdays?

After weekend games, I take a break on Monday, and do light weight and team training on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I trained centering on the next team opponent, and on Thursday, I trained really lightly and freely, and then on Friday, I trained myself to prepare for weekend games for the last time. The training intensity during the season was not strong. If you think of it as leisure, you have time to relax. You have to train yourself what you need because you train once a day, not in the morning, afternoon, or night like in Korea. Based on our team's standards, you can do individual training comfortably within a fixed time. Some lower-league teams don't have space for regular training.

Only when the long door in 2023 and the long door in 2024 are different can a KBL return be possible. How has it changed?

When I was in the KBL and when I was in the B.3 league, there were many aspects that I set my limits in the KBL. I worked hard, but it was not revealed much, but there were many things I had to do on my own here. My attitude and passion for basketball have changed. When I joined the professional league, I was hurt, so I set my limits on my own. In Japan, it was a season where I improved by playing one season without any major injuries.

What has changed in your basketball skills?

While defending foreign players, he learned how to defend themselves. He had more chances to defend than Korea. At first, he tried to save his teammates with the mindset that he had to sacrifice himself without looking at my offense. I also felt the need for aggression, so I did so. That has gotten better than Korea.

Please say something to the officials of each KBL club.

If there's a team that needs me, I'm determined to do my best. I can play better than before.
