The Story Behind Dynabeats: Infinite

A small experiment that started by accident
To be honest, I never expected that I would actually end up creating Dynabeats: Infinite.

One afternoon, I was chatting with a friend about something interesting.

As designers with art backgrounds—people who barely know how to code—could we collaborate with AI to create simple web games?

At first it was just curiosity.

So I decided to try building a small prototype.

What I ended up making was my favorite kind of game:

a classic falling-note rhythm game.

An idea from a long time ago

Back when I was in college, I once had this thought:

“I wish I could play my favorite songs in a rhythm game.”

But later I learned that most rhythm games rely on manually designed charts, and the music files often need carefully separated tracks to build good gameplay.

That made me wonder:

What if a system could analyze the music and generate the charts automatically?

Of course, back then I had absolutely no way to build something like that.

But the idea stayed in the back of my mind.

Years later, when AI appeared,

that idea came back again.

What I wanted to create

Automatic chart generation itself is not a new concept anymore.

I’m sure I wasn’t the first person to think of it.

But for me, this project was about bringing an old imagination to life.

I wasn’t trying to create something overly complex or extremely difficult.

I simply wanted to make a game that captures the pure fun of a classic falling-note rhythm game.

Why a web game?

I wanted the game to be easy for anyone to try.

So I chose the most accessible format:

a web-based game.

I also challenged myself to make it playable on mobile devices with touch controls.

A small limitation

Dynabeats: Infinite has one unique feature.

Players need to prepare their own music or video files.

For some people this might feel like a bit of extra work,

but it also gives players a lot of freedom.

Once you prepare a playlist of songs you truly love,

the experience becomes a very personal rhythm game.

Finally

The process is simple.

Just import the music you like into Dynabeats: Infinite.

The system will handle the rest—

and you can simply enjoy the rhythm game experience.

Thank you for reading all the way to the end.

I sincerely invite you to look forward to the official release of the game together with me.

Maybe that day isn’t too far away. 😉

Development progress videos are also released irregularly on the official YouTube.
