Watch Shaun Pollock ODI debut match super performance in his first ODI match in the South Africa vs England 1st ODI 1996 at Cape Town.
Batting first, South Africa were in all sorts of trouble at 106/6 when Pollock, who was making his ODI debut came out to join Jack Kallis at the crease. The duo slowly rebuilt the innings with a solid 45 run partnership before Kallis was dismissed for 38.
Pollock then took over and along with the tail finished off the innings with some aggressive hitting in the end overs to give the home team something to bowl at. In the process, Pollock reached his maiden half century and remained unbeaten on 66 as South Africa finished on 211.
In defense of this modest total, Pollock again led from the front, picking up wickets at crucial intervals including the last England wicket and finished with 4 wickets as South Africa won by a narrow 6 runs.
Without a doubt, Pollock was awarded man of the match for his splendid allround show in his debut ODI.
