Help Corey Prevent Eviction & Pay His Medical Bills
My name is Corey. I’m a U.S. Air Force veteran, and for nearly 18 years, I’ve worked as a personal trainer, helping people build strength, improve their health, and regain confidence in their bodies. Now, a severe spinal injury has left me unable to walk or work, and I need help getting treatment and keeping my apartment.
I have a fracture in my spine, multiple herniated discs, disc degeneration, and severe nerve compression affecting my left leg. I cannot walk. I’m currently relying on a kneeling scooter to get around because I cannot afford a wheelchair.
The nerve pain can feel like my leg is broken. Standing and even lying down are painful, and only certain sitting positions are tolerable. I often sleep for just three hours before pain wakes me. The medications that help control it also leave me exhausted and make concentrating difficult.
My back problems developed over time after years of physically demanding work, long days, and few breaks. I kept showing up for others, but living paycheck to paycheck meant I never built the savings to survive suddenly being unable to work.
Right now, I have zero income.
I already owe more than $5,300 in medical bills and am pursuing spinal surgery, with final clearance and costs still being determined. Meanwhile, my internet has been disconnected, utilities are overdue, and I don’t have the money for my next rent payment. I’m afraid of being evicted while I’m unable to walk, let alone pack my belongings and move.
Donations will help cover:
* Spinal surgery, medical bills, prescriptions, and recovery care.
* Mobility equipment to help me manage daily life.
* Rent and overdue utilities so I can stay in my apartment.
* Groceries, basic necessities, and phone and internet service.
* Transportation to medical appointments.
* Essential care for my two cats, who have been a tremendous source of comfort during these isolating months.
My family’s ability to help is limited by their own health and financial circumstances. Asking publicly is difficult, but I’ve reached a point where I can’t manage this alone.
After nearly 18 years of helping people regain their strength, I’m asking for support as I work toward recovering my own. Every donation will help relieve the immediate pressure and give me stability while I pursue surgery and recover.
I want to regain my independence and return to the work I love. If you’re able to donate, any amount will help. If you can’t, sharing this fundraiser would mean a great deal.
Thank you for reading, caring, and helping me get through this.
Corey
