I want to show you something I've been building. It's called Facet, a kaleidoscope music visualizer I first made with Grok. You can draw inside it with your finger or mouse while a song plays, or just let the music take over. Everything you see in it is drawn by hand and shaped by me and the song. No AI art here, just light, mirrors, and music.
Today it got a big upgrade, and every change came from my own ideas and testing:
✨ It listens to each song's own loudness, so quiet songs and loud songs both get a full show. Real drum hits make bursts, sparkles, and little zoom jolts. 🌀 Each song draws its own shape: flower, spiral, star, figure-8, wave, orbit, lightning zigzag, wander, or a butterfly wing. 🦋 Butterflies flutter out on strong beats, and a whole ring of them flies out when the song drops. Quiet parts breathe slowly, like wings opening. 🎨 There are 19 color moods. Twelve bright ones like Candy Prism, Lagoon, Neon Pop, Daydream, and Opal, plus seven dark and twisty ones I asked for: Bruise, Rot Garden, Night Swamp, Oxblood, Deep Trench, Witching Hour, and Tar & Teal. 🔮 Auto mode switches the mirrors, strokes, and colors on its own at the big moments in a song, staying dark or bright, whichever I pick. 🎛️ Every effect has its own on/off switch, so I can make it as calm or as wild as I want.
Still in the works: old ink fading out with the beat so the screen never floods, and a camera button so I can catch a beautiful moment before it changes. Someday I'd love for you to be able to play with it yourself.
Thank you for being here and supporting the weird, wonderful things I make. Every coffee helps me keep building. ☕🦋
