When we encounter closed doors in life, our natural reaction is often disappointment, frustration, and questioning. We wonder why God isn't answering our prayers or meeting our expectations in the way we had hoped. Noah wasn't simply trapped in the ark when God shut the door. He was enclosed with everything he needed for survival – his family, provisions, and all that was necessary to fulfill God's purpose after the flood subsided. Similarly, when God closes doors in our lives, He ensures that we have everything we need for that particular season. He provides protection, provision, peace, joy, and supportive people who encourage us along the way. These are the resources we often overlook when fixating on the closed door.
The enemy wants us to believe that God has abandoned us when He closes a door, but nothing could be further from the truth. God is sovereign and knows the end from the beginning. If He hasn't opened a specific door, it could be because we're not yet ready to receive what's on the other side, or perhaps what we're asking for isn't best for us. Sometimes, He's simply preparing us for something better.
This revelation invites us to shift our mindset. Instead of murmuring and complaining when God doesn't immediately grant our requests, we should inventory what He has already provided. What wisdom, grace, and resources has He given you behind your closed door? Who has He placed in your life to support you? What skills are you developing during this waiting period? God is using this time to prepare you for what awaits on the other side.
Remember that after months in the ark, the door eventually opened, and Noah emerged into a new world with a fresh purpose. Similarly, when God's timing is right, He will open the door for you, and you'll step into something new and life-changing that advances His kingdom. Your closed door is not a punishment but a preparation. It's not abandonment but alignment with God's perfect plan.
This doesn't mean you can't express disappointment to God. Your relationship with Him allows that freedom. However, don't dwell there. Continue trusting that His plans are to prosper you, not to harm you – to give you hope and a future. Even when doors remain closed, know that God has given you everything you need for this season, and your best days are still ahead.
