Clutch Justice is an independent investigative publication built on a simple idea: go back to the record.

I investigate courts, true crime, wrongful convictions, public institutions, and the systems around them using court filings, FOIA records, public data, source documents, and the evidence underneath the story everyone thinks they know.

Before Clutch Justice, I spent 12 years as a federal analyst. I’ve spent the last three years applying that analytical background to investigative journalism and accountability research: building timelines, finding documentary gaps, testing claims against primary sources, and making complicated records understandable.

The methodology is documented. The sources are cited. And when the record doesn’t support a conclusion, I say that too.

But Clutch isn’t only about reading records.

Courts are where we examine power, process, accountability, and the mechanisms that determine what justice actually looks like.

Crime is where we go beyond the headline—cold cases, wrongful convictions, forensic evidence, major true-crime stories, documentaries, sports, and cases where the public narrative deserves another look.

Crochet is the unexpected part, and intentionally so. Detective Club, original patterns, puzzles, and creative projects give this community another way to investigate, make things, solve things, and have some fun along the way.

Clutch Justice is also built to make investigative methods useful to other people. The Lab, research libraries, databases, Field Kit tools, courses, and reference resources exist because people should be able to examine the record for themselves—not simply accept someone else’s version of what happened.

The reporting stays independent.
