update 8/25/2026:
Well, we went to vascular for a checkup on the stump wound, and kind of felt we were going to be told the infection was still there, and we were not disappointed.
Another round of antibiotics, and a CT scan, and if the infection remains, at all, he will be admitted in or around 2 weeks from now, for a debridement and wound vac placement. The wound vac would mean regular nursing visits at home, and could take a few weeks to clear up and heal the wound.
Okay. So we have a plan.
THEN on the way home we get the call. He is scheduled for TAVR 9/15. Well, no, he can't be. So we had to cancel it and hopefully he will be on schedule in October. All we need is wound to be healed and no infection by 9/30.
So, yes, here I go again, asking for your prayers, good thoughts, mojo, whatever you got - we need this healed and infection free by 9/30.
The if all goes well, he gets the TAVR. Comes home for a few weeks, gets fitted for the prosthetic, and a few weeks after that, goes to rehab for walking training.
With any luck at all, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving, like you ain't never seen before.
Until then, this gal is tired, but ready to do what's got to be done, to get to 9/30, and beyond.
Every day is touchy with this valve. Now we have to be concerned with the infection, too.
