About Chris Freeman
FPGA cores for the MEGA65 and tools like SourcePing
Hi, I'm Chris. I build FPGA cores that bring classic computers back to life on the MEGA65.
My main project is MegaST, an Atari ST/STe core for the MEGA65, ported from the MiSTer core with the MiSTer2MEGA65 framework. It runs TOS and EmuTOS, floppy and hard disk images, Atari, Amiga and C64 mice, HDMI and VGA output, and soon the MEGA65's own built-in floppy drive, so you can boot real Atari disks. I'm also working on MegaX68000, megatrs80 and MegaZXNext, and I share what I learn in m2m-porting-lessons so other people can port cores too.
Outside retro computing I build software too, like SourcePing (sourceping.app), a Discord bot that posts updates from GitHub, YouTube, Twitch, stores and RSS feeds to your community.
Everything retro I make is free and open source (GPL v3). Each new feature means hours of simulation, builds and testing on real hardware. If MegaST or one of my other cores brings back some good memories, a coffee helps keep the next feature coming. Thank you!
