One day, early into our adventure, we decided to take a look behind the fireplace in our study.
We discovered 2 firedogs both with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels mounted on them, in the Citadelle du Cavalier !
A fire-dog (or an andiron) is a bracket support, normally found in pairs, on which logs are laid for burning in an open fireplace, so that air may circulate under the firewood, allowing better burning and less smoke. They can often be very decorative.
