How I'm looking for the apartment in Vietnam and Thailand

As I'm frequently asked how I find apartments, I've decided to write this post.

Most travelers are likely familiar with websites like Airbnb, where you can find apartments. It's a convenient option, but prices can often be higher than expected. Additionally, I've noticed that there are often more apartment options available than what's shown on booking platforms.

Before deciding to live in an apartment in a new city, I first choose the approximate area I want to live in and book a hotel room there for about 2-4 days. During these days, I try to find a suitable apartment by calling and visiting potential places. Sometimes, apartments are not as nice as they appear in photos—they can be dirty or have broken items. I also check the location to see if there are any grocery stores or supermarkets nearby. I prefer calmer areas, not in the city center, especially in Vietnam, as it can be noisy with motorbikes and karaoke, which are very popular there.

In Vietnam, I mostly searched for apartments using Google Maps App. I simply typed in keywords like 'apartment,' 'condo,' or 'condominium,' and called the numbers provided in the descriptions. Sometimes, you can even contact them directly through Google Maps App if the option is available. Alternatively, you can find apartment rental offers in Facebook groups by searching for terms like 'Danang apartment'

In Thailand, I also sometimes use the same method, but more often, I look on Facebook Marketplace, which is more convenient for me to find apartments in Pattaya City.
