Mother's Day

Mar 19, 2023

Good Morning Folks
A hard day today for those who have lost their Mum and even harder when that loss is recent. For some it's just another day and I can appreciate that aspect as well.
The loss of a parent is something we nearly all go through at some point in our lives and one of the things that we can all relate to in some way.
Let's not forget though as well, the children who have lost mothers, the mothers who have lost children and also all the fathers who are both mum and dad to their children.
Wherever your Mum may be and no matter what the circumstances, she will know and will have known (for those now living in the muddle and confusion of dementia), that you love her now and loved her then.

My very first visit to Weston Woods yesterday!
Despite being a Weston girl, it's somewhere I've never been to before.
As children, growing up on the farm, we didn't go out really. Our amusements always came from whatever muddling we could get up to at home really. Of course added to that, everyone was nearly always busy anyway so our childhood pleasures never involved having trips out.
We did go to Uphill beach at times but normally if we went anywhere it would be Anchor Head or the Model Railway whilst my friend's dad had a drink nearby.

I don't think we ever missed out it's just we made our own amusements and didn't have our lives organised for us.
Anyway, my first excursion into the woods!
It was an organised trip, part of an Arts Council initiative and a ladies only few hours.
I will admit it wasn't what I expected at all as I had read the blurb and thought it was a nature ramble with photography.
It wasn't that at all really, but quite enjoyable nonetheless and the company was good. We didn't travel that far into the woods themselves although my granddaughter and myself have already made plans to do just that and explore a bit further.

As always we tagged other things onto the trip so also visited the churchyard at Lympsham with some flowers and ended up at the Apex for sunset. The only thing was, no sunset :(
Well obviously the sun did set but the clouds completely obliterated it and the sky didn't colour up at all.
We sat as always on our bench for a while though and talked as we always do. By this time the temperature had dropped and realising we were not going to see anything, we headed back to the car.
I have used a snap of a sunset from last year, taken at our bench at the Apex Park in Burnham on Sea.
Hinkley Point power station in the background!

I wrote this poem yesterday and intended turning it into a picture with a photo background. Obviously I didn't get around to it but I hope the words will still resonate the same on their own.

Forever

On Mother's Day
I think of you
Forever in my heart
No matter where or why
We will never be apart

Years may pass
And although you're gone
In our forever time
I am always yours
And you are always mine

The love is real
It never changes
It's deep within my soul
You will always be my mother
And forever make me whole
