Atlanta BeltLine: A Storytelling Event (Otter.ai Notes)

Apr 12, 2024

Recently, I had the privilege of attending an enlightening session with Clyde Higgs, CEO of Atlanta Beltline, hosted at the University of Oklahoma. The gathering was not just an opportunity to learn but a source of inspiration for our own aspirations with the Osage Trail in Tulsa, especially through the transformative lens of the Phoenix District. Clyde's insights into infrastructure and community betterment echoed our ambition to enliven the trails that thread through our city. The Beltline's journey—marked by intentional development and an impressive balance of urban progress with community care—offers a blueprint for change. It resonates with our vision to cultivate spaces that bridge divides and champion inclusivity. Join me as I share the recording and my notes from the event, and let’s explore how we can emulate one of the nation’s most impactful urban redevelopment projects to enhance the quality of life in our communities.

In the spirit of a true connoisseur of technology and learning, I utilized Otter.ai to capture the essence of the talk in audio format. Alongside, my trusty phone played the role of a visual chronicler, snapping shots to complement the richness of the presentation notes for a holistic retrospective experience. A fair warning though, the audio does bear the hallmark of a bustling event atmosphere; the occasional shuffle and murmur as I juggled my belongings without the luxury of a table for support. For an immersive dive, I recommend a tandem approach: read through the notes as Clyde Higgs’ voice guides you through his vision. The melody of ideas is best appreciated in this harmony of text and sound.

Keep an eye out for my latest post where I'll be sharing additional insights and the Q&A session—unscripted moments that often hold the most candid pearls of wisdom.
