I lost my job in 2009, just about the time my wife Ruth was publishing a middle grade series called "The Ellie McDoodle Diaries."
We've traveled all over this country, and I've met some of the coolest Kid Lit people ever.
I've had the privilege of interviewing some of them.
But there's plenty left. I do these interviews to give back, and also to celebrate the act of writing. Love doesn't pay the bills; Social security and "March is Reading Month" school visits do.
I've got half a dozen MG and YA stories "in a drawer," but for now I'm content to ask others how they write theirs.
